Mask-ne

Even though year 2020 is in our rear-view window, we are still feeling the effects of what the year has brought us. Until the vaccine is available for everyone, expect to wear your mask in public for the foreseeable future. Due to my own paranoia, I think I’ll still be wearing my mask for a while now. Because of the humidity in the South, I have already suffered from my fair share of “mask-ne” that is finally starting to fade away. Fortunately, I am not the only one suffering from this ailment, and here are some tips on treating mask-ne from dermatologists as told to the team at FabFitFun. Are you suffering from mask-ne, and how are you taking care of your skin?

From Sandra Lee, aka “Dr. Pimple Popper” and the founder of SLMD Skincare, “No one will see that area when you are wearing your mask and wearing less makeup/products means that your mask will get less dirty, and this will minimize the risk of breakouts.”

She also recommends spraying the inside of your mask with the SLMD Salicylic Acid Body Spray. This helps to keep the skin underneath clean and prevents pores from getting clogged with oil or dirt. According to Lee, acne-fighting ingredients like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are great to incorporate into your routine to gently but effectively improve acne.
