Micellar Water

When it comes to certain rules, routines and procedures, I am pretty stuck in my ways. Especially when it comes to hair and beauty. When I remove my makeup, I usually use a makeup remover wipe for my mascara, then Dove soap, then African Black soap, followed by Almond oil and a light moisturizer.

One day I while waiting for the bus, I randomly took survey about public transportation. As a reward for my time, I received a $5 Amazon gift card. I only took the survey because the bus was delayed, I wasn’t in a rush to get to work (even though it was about 15 degrees outside), and I truly felt sorry for the woman standing outside so long in the cold. I kept hearing so many rave reviews about Micellar water, so I decided to try it out. I wasn’t too keen on the price tag of $10 for an item I wasn’t even sure about, so I decided to use my new gift card to offset the price. The product claims to be a makeup remover and a replacement for soap and water all in one. Determined to make my life more efficient, I decided to try it out.

The instructions are to saturate a cotton square/ball, hold it on your eyes for a few seconds and voila! Makeup is magically gone. I tried that. The makeup was gone – from one eye. I had to repeat the steps for my other eye, and the rest of my face. After the third product drenched cotton square, I just decided to wash my face using my normal routine. Since I have 13.5 oz to use of this product, I’ve have altered the way I use it. I now drench a makeup remover wipe with the Micellar water, then apply it to my eyes to remove my mascara and eye makeup. I also use the rest of the wipe to remove any lingering foundation.

I feel like Micellar water works best for people that just wear mascara and eyeliner, or one or the other. It seems like you use too much product, and too many cotton balls to mimic the same result as soap and water. I’ll probably use up the rest of my bottle, but I will be hesitant to purchase it again with out a discount.
