Organization Tips for the New Year

Even though the New Year technically starts on January 1st, I like to give myself a little time to ease into it. I need to get used to writing and saying the year 2020, and I need to come to terms with all the things that happen at the start of the year. I also don’t like the rush of “New Year, New You.” Let me get there on my own time OK? Don’t get me wrong, I have goals that I have set for myself for the year, but I don’t like the pressure of needing to start them as soon as the clock strikes midnight on December 31st.

Our family was blessed to be able to move into a new home before the end of the year, so there is a lot of unpacking and organizing to do since we have so much more space. I’m not rushing to have everything done at once, especially since we plan to be here for a long time and I don’t want to rush into any decorating decisions. One of my main goals is to decorate my home office. Since it will be my space dedicated to me, I really want to tap into my girly side and make it mine. While I pin my life away on Pinterest trying to bring my vision to life, Martha Stewart has some great tips on organizing your home. The tips in the video below are pulled from her new book – Martha Stewart’s Organizing: The Manual for Bringing Order to Your Life, Home & Routines. She focuses on your laundry room, your desk space, and your hall closet; places in your home that can get cluttered and messy quickly. What are some of your organization goals for the new year?
